Happy Endings

Once an animal leaves the shelter with it's new family, our staff and volunteers are always thrilled to hear how they are doing in their new home. Whether it's a letter with a photo, phone call, personal visit, or This email address is being protected from spambots. The Great Gatsby!

Two years ago, I walked in to West Suburban looking for a dachshund. I walked out with Gatsby (known as Hey, Bud while at West Suburban). As you can see, he’s no dachshund. But, even at 43 pounds, this beagle/bulldog still thinks he’s a lap dog.

While Gats has had his fair share of obstacles, he is the perfect dog that fits into my family. He’s a world class snuggler but knows how to get the party going, too! I can’t thank WSHS enough for giving me my best friend.

Irish Lasses Sinead and Siobhan!

They are adjusting so well! We are absolutely in love with them and they have slept with us from the first night. Siobhan is a little more adventurous as we had expected, but they seemed to jump right into the flow of our house right away. They're doing well with the dog and my older cat, as well as the kids. In fact, the cats both greet us when we come home and Siobhan is always waiting in bed for me.

A Boy and His Dog Finn!

Pellegrino, now known as Finn :) is doing wonderful!! At his last vet apt. he was already 27 pounds, we suspect he will be a big boy! Potty training is coming along and he already knows a ton of basic commands. He is such a good boy! He starts Puppy school/training on Saturday morning. We are all looking forward to seeing what he learns. Him and our 2 year old son, Jaxson, are already best friends, it's such an awesome sight to see!

Love Bug!

Mauricio has been renamed Jak. He is adjusting really well and we are spoiling him rotten. Every day we see a little bit more of his personality shining through and it just makes us know he was the right dog for our family!    ... He is such a love bug and joy to have in our family.

Gentle Giant Django!

Django is adjusting really well.  We seem to have a good routine.  He's even helping Robert with his stick-handling.  We did go to the vet for our check-up and got his diet progressed.  He has met several of our friends and their children.  We will keep in touch!  Also, I was wondering about training classes in case our local one doesn't meet our needs.

Thank you and have a great weekend!
